Hunting
Hunting comes naturally to most English Setter. If you want to field trial your dog, you may want to select a field-bred dog. These dogs are smaller and wider ranging than show-bred dogs and can cover the enormous amounts of ground with high speed required in field trialing. If you want a good personal gun dog that you can follow on foot (rather than needing a horse), then most any English Setter will fill this need.
